The official Tahiti taxi fares
Taxi Tams charges the taxi fares for Tahiti set by the Council of Ministers. These are maximum prices, VAT included.
The ride
- Pick-up charge1,000 XPF
- Per km, daytime160 XPFFrom 6 am to 8 pm.
- Per km, night260 XPFFrom 8 pm to 6 am.
- Waiting, per hour2,500 XPFAt the airport, when you have booked online and ask me to wait for you on arrival. Anywhere else it is rare, for example while you shop at the supermarket: I can wait for you, but on the meter, which keeps running while you shop. One hour comes to 2,500 XPF.
Surcharges
- Ride up to the hills500 XPFTo a housing estate or a neighbourhood up in the hills. You are told before you get in.
- From the fifth passenger500 XPFFlat rate, as soon as there are more than four of you.
- Vehicle with more than five seats booked ahead500 XPFFor two passengers at most, only when you ask for a van yourself, for example for a couple. It cannot be combined with the fifth-passenger surcharge.
Extras
- Bag over 5 kg, animal100 XPFPer bag or per animal.
- Bulky item (surfboard, cooler, stroller…)500 XPF
Maximum prices, VAT included, the same for every taxi in Tahiti.
What the order also says
- “The fare covers the outward trip and the return trip.”
- You get a receipt before you pay, if you ask for it.
